天主談到了我們沒有見過的巨大生物。豈非那就是約伯記41章的重點嗎？

在約伯記38-40章，上帝為約伯細數了祂的締造。在這如詩歌般的三章裡，天主指出天候的奇觀、宇宙的廣袤，以及在棲息地中的多元物種。這些都是我們可以視察到的。接著，天主用一整章來描寫聖經翻譯為「鱷魚」的神祕海獸，這生物有魚叉刺不進的鱗甲（約伯記41章7、13節），力大無限（12節），有使人望而卻步的牙齒（14節），乃至「從牠口中發出燒著的火把，……從牠鼻孔冒出煙來」（19-20節），地上沒有動物能與牠相比（33節）。

絕對不是！約伯記41章是要讓我們更瞭解上帝驚人的特質。詩人也曾進一步闡釋：「那裡有海，又大又廣，……有祢所造的大魚，在海裡遊玩」（詩篇104篇25-26節，新譯本）。在讀過約伯記恐怖的描寫以後，我們也知道，天主為這個最使人懼怕的生物創造了一個遊樂場，讓牠能在個中嬉戲。

No! Job 41 broadens our understanding of God’s surprising character. The psalmist expanded on this when he wrote翻譯社 “There is the sea, vast and spacious, . . . and Leviathan, which you formed to frolic there” (Psalm 104:25–26). After the terrifying description in Job翻譯社 we learn that God created a playpen for this most fearsome of all creatures. Leviathan frolics.

“When you go to the deep sea, every time you take a sample, you’ll find a new species,” says marine biologist Ward Appeltans. In one recent year, scientists identified 1,451 new types of undersea life. We simply don’t know the half of what’s down there.
